Modern!AU verse

Ariadne was the youngest daughter of billionaire maritime and trading business man Minos Floros and renowned former model and fashion designer Pasiphae Floros. Being the youngest daughter ensured her to be the best protected and spoiled of all of her siblings, yet ironically that was something that didn’t influenced her too badly, she was kind and open to people, never too judgmental and was always a rather obedient daughter, also due to being the youngest and what had happened to her older brother Androgeus when due to his fame was assassinated, her parents decided to keep the rest of their children as far away from the spotlight as possible and by time Ariadne was born they had it down to a T and actually not a lot of people knew that a younger daughter existed.

For all intents and purposes, Ariadne lived in a gilded golden cage, safe and protected yet not exactly longing for anything else since that was all that she knew, the only flavor of freedom she got was on her dancing and by the gods she was good, she moved gracefully and beautifully, like if she was the air or water, it was perfect form and she still had the passion to move everyone into feeling whatever her dancing was meant to comply at the moment. Her teachers were just pleased with her, enough that they slowly started to push her to the path of a professional career; she was one of the youngest dancers to join The Royal Ballet and to perform in the Royal Opera House, on secondary but important roles and she was well on her way to fame.

Or at least that was till she met Theseus Spiros, the son of one of her father business rivals Aegeus, and oh how hard she fell in love with him and how well he was able to use that to his advantage, she was after all only seventeen and naïve in so many ways due to having been sheltered for so long, the perfect faux he needed to get what he wanted, sweetening his words and promising her the world and taking her away with him, well, she agreed to bet everything to him and in the name of love so she aided him to find a way through the MINOTAUR security system, a complicated maze of security programs that protected most of the information regarding Minos business, they were of course discovered but Theseus managed to steal important information and did ended keeping part of his bargain taking Ariadne with him to United States.

The thing was that not long after, barely a month after their arrival to America, he left her behind during the night. The numbers and contact information he had provided her with turned out to be fake and soon the situation turned quite dreary for her, she was alone in a country she didn’t know about with not enough money to be able to find her way back to her family and a money that was quickly running out. She did managed to eventually communicate with her family, but her father had been unbowed and unmerciful to the mistake his daughter had committed, he didn’t forgive her and actually spurned her from the family, which didn’t turned to be that hard since not a lot of people knew she existed, and forbid her to call them anymore, he even managed to convince the people in the ballet company to also turn her back on her.

The only show of kindness she got came from her mother and her brother Glaucus that managed to secretly send her money for a little over two years, enough for her to at least manage to find a place to stay in, forge a new identity adopting the last name Marinos and even enroll in NYU Institute of Fine Arts, since she wouldn’t be able to afford the dance training she had been having, hoping to become at the very least get a degree in arts and conservation for paintings, since it was the closest she could get to being close to the arts.

But then her father had discovered the aid her mother and brother were sending and promptly stopped them, she wasn’t sure which means he used but Ariadne was sure blackmailing was one of them, now with that economical aid taken away from her and with the bills piling up both for her apartment and schooling and knowing she didn’t had enough skills yet to actually get a proper work, with her only available sets of skills being her dancing, she didn’t had a lot of options and she ended using the only set of skills she had.

It was a bit degrading at first, to dance around taking her clothes to strangers to earn the kind of money that she needed, no matter how respectable and high up stand (one of the best joints in New York she had been told) the place was, it was still degrading and then it, in the year she took a break from her studies to be able to save money again for it, it just became normal and she stopped feeling much more than it was a job and simply that, she danced, took her clothes off, her face remained concealed and her name buried under a nickname, and she got paid quite nicely since she not only got the best tips but was also one of the most popular ones in the club, and it helped that no one had found out what she did as a job, not even the few fellow students she had seen in the club.

She was going to stop doing it once she was done with her studies and managed to get a job for what she studied, but for the moment this was her life and she had come to accept it as it was.
